Formative Assessments Checklist and Feedback
Perhaps one of the most challenging and profound courses I took while in the MAET program was “Electronic Assessment for Teaching and Learning.” During this course, I was challenged to look beyond the assessment as mere homework, tests, quizzes, projects, and various other tasks. The core principle that lay in assessment is feedback. I was profoundly moved by the concept of giving students detailed and meaningful feedback from which they grew and learned. This very purpose should be designed into the learning tasks that I create and assign. To that end, we created Formative Assessment Checklists to consult as we designed learning experiences. Throughout the semester, we researched and created a checklist backed by research that we could use to evaluate our own assignments and assessments.
